These are the main steps and milestones of a Refactoring and Migration project,  and our commitments:

Assess + Survey

Every project must start with an Appraisal, in most cases producing a formal "Assessment & Survey" Certified Document. This is when we Quote and Estimate costs plus effort. This is when we  Discover as much info as possible.

Data Migration

Analyzing the state of Databases and Data itself is a must. This will allow us to make the appropriate choices for the Coding part. Migrating Data is the first step and milestone. Data architecture is the foundation of a successful migration.

Code Refactoring

We either need to refactor existing, legacy code to upgrade it and update it to present day standards, or we have to rewrite and reengineer the whole solution. That's the second major milestone in the project.

UAT + Deploy + Support

After an UAT(User Acceptance Testing) phase, we're ready to deploy into your servers or hosting infrastructure. This is the last milestone - from then on, we are ready to move into a support contract, if so chosen.

Quality Assurance

We follow strict best practices and all products are subject to  continuous validation, testing and ensured to meet the Acceptance Criteria. Our Client is engaged in testing and validating in all stages.

Fast

Our approach is of  Continuous Development and Integration applying  Agile methodology and practice. The result is fast development and rapid deployment. The Client follows all progress in our Staging servers.

Project Planning

Because we start with a detailed Discovery effort, with the Appraisal phase, "Assessment & Survey" doc as well as Project Management processes, we have all of it planned from the beginning. The roadmap is laid out as soon as Discovery allows.

Can you service my area/region/country?

We are prepared to do our work remotely, so, probably YES. Please contact us so we can assess (no charge) if there would be any challenges that may prevent us to render our services in your area/region/country/.

What sort of access to my resources/servers/software do you require?

It dependes on several factors. There isn't one answer only. Usually we require full access to servers, database administration software and complete control over the operating environment where your system is installed or hosted. It is also absoulutely essencial that we have access to full source code in order to refactor or migrate computer programs. There may be a few exceptions, but any case must be assessed individually prior to accepting the project. Depending on the quality and detail of information available at start, we may need to charge for the "Assessment and Survey" work, for it requires time and work from highly skilled professionals. However, there are many instances where the sytems to be refactored or maintained are well known and documented and we may waive said Survey Fees.

Why is there an "Assessment and Survey" fee? And how much does it cost?

We charge the "Assessment and Survey" Fee in cases that it's absolutely necessary to discover the actual state of the system prior to be able to quote or estimate effort needs towards migrating or refactoring your code and data. We need to charge for the "Assessment and Survey" work, for it requires time and dedicated work from one or more highly skilled professionals.

There may be a few exceptions, but any case must be assessed individually prior to accepting the project. Depending on the quality and detail of information available at start, and before we assess it, there are many instances where the systems to be refactored or maintained are well known and documented and we may be able to waive said Survey Fees. We do recommend you to opt for having it done, in any case, for it produces a Certified Due Diligence document of your system.

Usually, the "Assessment and Survey" fee starts at CAD$900.00 (plus applicable taxes). The final amount varies according to complexity of the project and current situation at Discovery time. It is common for this fee to not exceed CAD$1,500.00 (plus applicable taxes), but we will provide a fixed price up front, before you decide to go ahead.

The "Assessment and Survey" is a Certified Document that is elaborated according to Industry Best Practices and Standards and can be used by your organization as part of any Due Diligence processes, such as for obtaining Security Certification, Insurance, Due Diligence for investment and other similar business and technical purposes, fully qualifying for such requirements.

Note: The "Assessment and Survey" document DOES NOT cover the full requirements of a complete Due Diligence document; The "Assessment and Survey" document is a snapshot of the systems areas, services and software that are in scope for our Migration, Refactoring or Maintenance services. If you require a full Due Diligence document, please contact us for a quote and estimate customized to what you are being asked to prepare. In most cases we will be able to help you directly or refer you to professional services that will render such service.

My technology/database/computer language is not listed...

... would you still consider migrating it? - Yes, but we would need to perform a detailed assessment of your system (see answers about "Assessment and Survey"). In many cases, provided you possess the source code for your application and full access to databases and other required resources, we will be able to migrate and give new life to your business applications.

Do you provide Tech Support / Maintenance only?

YES. We will need to establish a SLA (Service Level Agreement) and Estimate/Quote effort and costs on a per case basis. This means that an "Assessment and Survey" is required prior to us being able to produce our quote and/or SLA. Please contact us so we can make a preliminary assessment (no charge).

Can I use the "Assessment & Survey Document" as part of Due Diligence required documentation?

Yes. We elaborate this document in full compliance with any Due Diligence documentation requirements. The "Assemment and Survey" is a Certified Document that we prepare according to Industry Best Practices and Standards and it can be used by your organization as part of any Due Diligence processes, such as for obtaining Security Certification, Insurance, Due Diligence for Investment, Venture Capital Funding and other similar business and/or technical purposes and requirements.
